What’s it really like driving a Tesla in Sydney?

Many (if not all!) Tesla owners would agree – your Tesla gets better with age. And that’s partly down to the regular software updates and also partly because charging is getting easier with more charging stations popping up – and it’s set to improve as more and more people start owning electric cars.

Did you hear that?

Driving your EV is completely different to driving an internal combustion engine – so if you’ve never experienced the drive then it’s time to! It’s very quiet – if you don’t know it’s there, you probably won’t hear it (something to be mindful of if there are people around such as in a parking lot or nearby schools).

Charging

Let’s be real – when EV’s first made their appearance in Australia, the range was a real concern of many. But as electric cars are growing in popularity, chargers are popping up everywhere – no, it’s not yet perfection but it’s definitely picking up speed. If you are in an area where chargers are readily available, then the range of your Tesla won’t be an issue. If you’re renting your Tesla from us, be sure to ask about the easiest chargers to access based on where you will be driving. Supercharger is the fastest way to charge your car – and depending on your individual needs, one charge can get you through a whole week! So while it’s nice to have an at home charger, it’s not 100% necessary. Super charging normally takes around 40 minutes – and you can easily find something to keep you busy during this time! You can also find community chargers as well, so the options – while not endless – are there.

What happens if your Tesla gets damaged?

Well, just like any other car, your car will need to get fixed. But you will need to find an authorised Tesla repairer to fix your Tesla. Something to keep in mind – and depending on the type of damage, it can take time. Be sure to check with your repairer for an estimated time to repair, because if you’re unlucky enough it could take several months.

Running the car and maintenance

Taking care of your Tesla is different to your regular petrol or diesel car in a couple of ways. Services aren’t needed quite as frequently as with regular cars – and will depend on your individual driving habits. So if you don’t really drive that much, then it’s only really your tyres and brakes to think about.

Updates

Your Tesla WILL get better with age! Your car will regularly receive software updates that will add or improve features – making your car even better. For example, enhanced autopilot – an additional feature that you can purchase – is a software update.
